galette des rois

galettedesrois

In France, “la galette des rois” or “cake of the kings” is traditionally served on January 6th to celebrate the Epiphany. Inside is hidden a small trinket or fève and the person who finds this toy in their piece of the cake gets to wear a paper crown and be “king” or “queen” for the day. I kept a fève from my visit to France and baked it into my own galette des rois, which actually looks pretty close to the ones you might buy in a French Pâtisserie!
