Black and White Macaroons



  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups flaked coconut
  • 1 and 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips


Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Line two baking sheets with foil.

Beat egg whites until foamy, add cream of tartar and salt. Beat until soft peaks form then gradually add sugar and vanilla. Continue beating until stiff peaks form and fold in coconut and 1 cup of chocolate chips.

Bake for 20 minutes or until surfaces begin to crack. Allow cookies to cool completely before removing from foil.



Note: Don’t make these on a rainy day! Meringues wont turn out when it is humid.
