I Heart Spritz

I have to eat these every year or there will be a problem. And I have to make more if they are eaten too soon. These are a winter holiday staple in my family. And since it is Valentine’s Day (Happy Valentine’s Day by the way), I thought it would be nice to show you how to make these with the heart-shaped die. If you really wanted to get fancy you could add red food coloring to your heart cookies.

I would also recommend the Black and White Macaroons and homemade Chocolate Covered Strawberries to impress whoever your love may be!

Here’s how to make them:

mix thoroughly
1 cup soft butter
2/3 cup sugar
3 egg yolks
1 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
work in
2 1/4 cup flour
force dough through cookie press onto cookie sheet
add sprinkles for decoration if you wish
bake 7-10 minutes at 375
until the cookie is set and there is a just a hint of brown around the edges
